Its always a great day when you come across something that wasn’t meant to be skated but is perfect to like a little bump in the concrete or a tiny little bank to wall. Every once in a while you come across a little hidden gem and try to hide it from everybody but as skaters its the nature of the beast to share these spots with your friends. Dean and I found just that over 10 years ago on top of a mountain, well actually in between 2 hills but we did have to hike to get to it. We came across a ditch and not just your typical ditch but a snake ditch, nothing like palo alto but a snake ditch no the less and to solidify the term snake ditch we actually had rattle snakes fall into the ditch a few times which is a bit of a shock when your walking back to the top and there’s a 4 foot snake just hanging out shaking his tail around. Well that serpent fell down one hill and then proceeded to climb back up the other hill so we didn’t have to charm it which I was getting ready to do. We actually hadn’t been up to the snake in a couple years but decided to go check it out a few months back and let me tell you, we are the only ones that know about this cause it had about 2 tons of debris in it. We went back with a wheel barrel some shovels and brooms for about 3 weekends in a row to get it back to its natural beauty. We actually bought some quik crete and did a little fixing to some of wounds our poor snake has gotten over the years.
The purpose of this banter is to talk about the great hidden gems we come across every now and then just like Isidro here shredding something that wasn’t meant to be skated when it was created. Good times!
