Atwaters Street Team

Atwaters Street Team

March 10th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

We got our street team out in forces these days and we like to make the Atwater message stick so we make our team stand out. Here we have NateO rocking a fresh hawk on his way to school to spread the Atwater message to all he encounters. Keep your eyes out for this little ripper.

Atwater at Myst in New Jersey

Atwater at Myst in New Jersey

March 5th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

Last night in New Jersey Atwater was one of the Hosts to a fun filled evening at Myst. Jack Laird showed up with all his goodies in tow i.e. a section of our Surf Expo Booth designed by Sean Tully our new poster staring Sage Hulls and a few pieces to comfort the masses during a night of $1 absinthe shots to the last few people in the bar. These little shin digs will be going on here and there over the next few months so keep your eyes glued to this site to get all your Atwater news.

Miller Barbershop

Miller Barbershop

March 2nd, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

So Dean has been talking a bunch about Millers Barbershop in Costa Mesa and how I’d love the place. I was up for the journey and I love to see new spots so I grabbed the camera and we headed out there last Friday afternoon. The Shop is right across from Triangle Square on a side street and when you walk up to the place you get bombarded with stickers from the Proprietors friends that have been loyal customers to Mr Mark Miller for years. When you walk into this place is quite overwhelming at first since it appears that every square inch of wall space has been covered with old pages of Thrasher and Surfer mags and about a million old punk flyers. There is even an echo beach poster hanging on the ceiling which was a real blast from the past. If you ever have a chance to visit Millers barbershop for a cut or just to take a look at the ceiling I would recommend it.

Marks got a lot of three stogies stuff all over the shop

Great reading material, I didn’t want to leave

Atwater Whoops it up at The Tiki Bar

Atwater Whoops it up at The Tiki Bar

February 22nd, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

If you made it out to the Tiki Bar this last Friday night then you already know about the fun that was had. There were some amazing performances thrown down by the Hindu Pirates which we were very impressed by, these kids were killing it and everybody I spoke with afterwards were pretty stoked to have been there to hear them. Gantez Warrior came up at the end of the evening and like always brought the house down with their unique sound.

The night was a little up in the air at first as far as if it were going to be a success with the rain throwing a wrench in our plan but the rain didn’t cause any problems for anybody there. Thanks to the Hindu Pirates, Gantez Warrior, Kyle at Tiki Bar, Cameron for getting everything together and everybody that came out to partake in the fun.

Some Speaker Love!!

Kent the owner of the The Tiki Bar was running around like crazy all night. Thanks again Kent for letting us take over your bar for the night.

Atwater brings the 1st ever straight razor shave booth to ASR

Atwater brings the 1st ever straight razor shave booth to ASR

February 17th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

So It has taken a bit of time to compile all the photos from this past ASR that we just finished a few weeks back but I think it was worth the wait. As many of you already know we had a barbershop set up on the floor of the show to do haircuts and straight razor shaves. Now for those of you out there that have not yet had a straight razor shave it is quite an experience. They wrap a steaming hot towel around your face to get the wiskers to stand at attention so its a smooth shave and let me tell you its smooth. Its a little weird at first but then when you come to the realization that these guys are professionals and they do this 40 times a day you kind of just sit back and relax.

We had our good friends Brent Ferris and AJ Henley come down and perform their skilled craft on the attendees of the show and with a never ending supply of people lined up to get cut it was quite a busy day for the two of them but they did it with a smile on their face the entire time.

So for those of you who didn’t get to stop by the booth this year hopefully we will have it going on next August as well and you can get your shave on then.

Brent even shaved heads

Dean went under the knife

Jack Laird got a fresh looking cut

This stuff is legit

Wes Van Der Vort stepped in for a cut

BMB had me schedule him for 9:30am on day 2 of the show but since nobody was there at 9am I decided to get a little trim via the blade

Jesse Faen from Insight got the hot towel shave

I felt bad when I would take these shots of the guys getting the shaves because your natural reaction when someone puts a camera in your face is to smile except when your getting a straight razor shave because if you move while their shaving your throat there is a chance you could get cut

The hot towel was awesome

Sean Smith from SIMA

The Bear from what I believe was from the H-Street booth was roaming around the halls so I pulled him in for a quick cut

I dont think he thought we were serious but then the cape came out and he looked a bit concerned

Doog from Surf Expo is a busy guy and knows everybody at the trade shows so it was difficult for him to wait in the lounge for his shave while everybody he knew kept walking on by

Josh Hunter from Transworld was doing a little segment on the most amazing flare ever seen at a tradeshow.

The Von Zipper family was all over the place while their family member took a little off the top

I pulled this one off AJ’s facebook page and didn’t realize until I was resizing the photos that it has Brents name across his chest. Wingnut was the first in line to get a shave on Wed. I have been pumping him up on this for about 2 1/2 months now and I think he was pretty stoked on the outcome.

The Bear and Luke Wessman from Luckys Tattoo Parlor

I think this is my favorite picture out of the whole lot. It looks like Brent just made a mistake on the back of this guys head with the look on his face.

The crowds never stopped. AJ and Brent are ASR celebrities
