Throwback to the 80’s

Throwback to the 80’s

March 10th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

I just wanted to pay homage to some of the ads by Powell Peralta back in the day. Some might not know any of these guys or maybe have just heard about them in passing but the guys were superstars in the 80’s at least to the skaters of the world. Back before the internet was available on everyones phone and youtube had every video imaginable on it the only way we got to see what was going on was through the pages of Transworld and Thrasher. It was a simple time back then.

Dudes

Such a rad collage

Lance and his skating upside down dog

I first saw this in the back of my very first Transworld, I traded a Surfer mag for it

The Brat, Mothra, Grosso he has had a variety of nicknames over the years. He still kills it every day and wears the best darn clothes ever

I never got the Steadham board back in the day but was always a huge fan of those graphics and now own 2 of them

So Original, where does Tony end and his board begin

Brain Teaser

Brain Teaser

February 26th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

So I figured out that everybody has deep Subconscious thoughts and feelings that sometimes come out at different times throughout their life and sometimes they will unknowingly just pop their little head out randomly. I figured out a way to dig deep into a persons cranium and get the real truth. If you follow my instructions below you will be surprised to find out your true feelings.

Now I have built this program around figuring out our customers favorite action sports brand. So if you follow these next steps your true feelings will come out with out you even thinking about it.

1) Pick your favorite number between 1-9

2) Multiply by 3 then

3) Add 3

4) Then again Multiply by 3 (I’ll wait while you get the
calculator….)

5) You’ll get a 2 or 3 digit number….
6) Add the digits together

With that number, see who your favorite brand is from the list below:

1. Reef

2. Nixon

3. Vans

4. Volcom

5. Oakley

6. Hurley

7. Quiksilver

8. Billabong

9. Atwater

10. Matix

Next time your in Dana Point

Next time your in Dana Point

February 12th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

Next time your taking a peaceful drive down the PCH and you happen to stumble upon the dreamy little town of Dana Point take some time out of your day to make your way into Infinity Surfboards which is located right at the tip of DP on PCH. Not only will you find yourself in a maze of some of the best surfboards this side of the Mississip but on your way in you can’t help but notice the 6 foot Not so Happy Panda Bears in the front window. This was done by the legendary Ladies man, The Angry Woebot who is a great friend to Atwater and will now be scaring the great folks of Dana Point for the next few months but don’t worry he just looks scary. Feel free to go on inside Infinity and ask for the Brown Blurr and have him take your picture in front of the window and I’ll throw you up on this here blog for millions to see!

The Rat and the Tiger

The Rat and the Tiger

January 29th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

What happens when you throw a Tiger and a Ratt in the same room together? Well if the Ratt has a tattoo gun and goes by the name Ratty Matty and the Tiger has an empty spot on his leg and goes by the name “The Brown Blurr” well then you have yourself a party. I heard from a pretty reliable witness that the brown blurr almost shed a tear during this process. How can a guy that surfs 75 ft pipe get scared over a little needle.

He’s reading a Vanitey Fair seriously, he brought it with him.

Surf Expo’s Roy Turner

Surf Expo’s Roy Turner

November 6th, 2009 by Mike Quilliam

So I was talking to Doog over at Surf Expo just a little while ago and he was mentioning that he was wearing the Rip It Up T shirt the other day and then he mentioned that Roy was in fact wearing an Atwater shirt right then and there. “Take a picture and send it over”, Doog did and now Roy will for ever be archived in the Atwater blog.

Atwater and the Mammoth Men

Atwater and the Mammoth Men

November 2nd, 2009 by Mike Quilliam

In the early wintery months of 2008, eight of us, who are celebrated, award-winning and downright awesome photographers from all over the country grabbed our snowboards to ride the mountains of Mammoth, California . This marked the beginning of what is now known as…wait for it…The Mammoth Men. What ensued during that getaway was a week filled with adventure, spontaneity, hijinks and storied tales. A bond was forged amongst us men and a commitment made to doing it again, and doing it often!

During 2008, we, the Mammoth Men hit the road again for two more trips. Only on these trips, we loaded up in a Prevost rock star tour bus. On the first trip, we headed up the California Coast for five days of ruckus and shared it on our traffic happy blog. With the success of the first trip notched on our belts, we then ventured into the American Southwest documenting an epic amount of glorious insanity. The blog following continued even after these two trips had ended and garnered much media attention in the blogosphere and in magazine publications. At the start of 2009, in the fourth, and most recent installment of the Mammoth Men, we bundled up and headed to the greatest snow on earth – Park City, Utah. The Mayhem unfolded as we shacked up in a ginormous cabin and proceeded to melt the faces and snow off of the surrounding inhabitants and terrain as we went snowmobiling, snowboarding, sledding, indoor skydiving, and even got a jeep stuck in the Great Salt Lake! The Utah trip also marked The Mammoth Men’s first contest to raise money for two of our favorite charities! Together with the blog and Twitter followers, we were able to raise over $3000 for charity!

On Mammoth Men 5, we are heading to the mecca of Southern Hospitality – The Dirty South! Join us as we embark on another epic adventure in search of the BBQ-est BBQ, the craziest cajun food, the most lavish plantation, the classiest croquet game, late night cow tipping, and, what was that…sheep riding??? Yep, cause that’s how we roll!
