Atwaters Darshan Gooch on Surfline

Darshan Gooch has been up and down the coast over the last few months. He is always sending over emails of his journeys to these random remote places which we love to see. Darshan just landed on the pages of Surfline for their post on this last swell.

Hawaii in Boston

Hawaii in Boston

July 21st, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

A few weeks back our Hawaii Sales Rep took a little me time and traveled from Hawaii to the east coast and landed in Boston with his main squeeze Sarah. I was talking to Wayne right before he left and told him to take some photos for this here blog so we could get a look at what went down in bean town. He went to the Sam Adams Brewery, got to see the craziness of a Red Sox game and saw some of the unique art that Boston has to offer.

Atwaters Jake Kirschenbaum is the Cover boy for the ECSC

Last year Jake Kirschenbaum didn’t win the ECSC but did participate in it and even though he didn’t bring home the win he did make an impression on someone over there because he is the main shot on the ECSC website. Jake and Scott Posner were in town last week and they both stopped by the office to say hello and catch us up on what they have been up to.

Mark Willingham from Tilly’s hit us up a couple weeks back to do a little online contest through their website. We were going to just throw something together with a few logos and maybe a surf shot or something when Dean decided to draw some original characters for this contest and they came out pretty cool. So click here to enter the contest for a chance to win some FREE Atwater gear but if you can’t wait to win well then just click here and go straight to the Atwater page on the Tilly’s site and buy, buy, buy!!

Darshan Gooch hits the road again

Darshan Gooch hits the road again

July 8th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

We really have utilized our team in a variety of different ways and one way that I really like is these little posts that a few of our team riders send over that gives a little insight into how they live which for me is cool because it shows us a little bit of the country and we get to see these guys get creative with the camera. Here we have Darshan on his road trip up north where he bumped into Brian Forcom along the way

Years ago I had surfed this right-hand sand point with a few friends, there used to be a little trailer park that was quickly eroding into the sea. Since my last visit, the trailer park is gone, houses are dropping row by row and there seems to be no stopping.

Although there were no shortage of waves elsewhere, my girlfriend Grace and I were itching to yank the logs off our truck and have a good ol’ slide.

Usually when I’m on the road I’ll bring one of those little cheese ball disposable cameras to snap a few photo’s in the water. This was the first time I tried the whole hand held approach, ten piggies over.

A big part of the adventure up north is hiking into all these different spots and the uncertainty of not knowing what you’ll run into or find. Most of the time you may be looking for someone to surf with due to the fact that most places don’t have the accessibility like we do in California.

Other times you’ll pull up and find a wave in plain sight, some of which the setups are most unusual.

Every time i’ve been up the coast in these regions , I look forward meeting up with Atwater’s White Tiger, Brian forcum. Not only is he one of the coast’s most talented surfers, he’s the most humble, soft spoken guy you’ll ever meet. Check out Brian’s skills in the video editing room as well right here

Other than packing or roof dragging a few tubes, Brian Forcum seems to surf no matter what the waves and conditions are like.

Summa Love Surf Camp

Summa Love Surf Camp

July 7th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

Bryan Zinski is at it again with the Summa Love surf camp. Bryan with the help of fellow Atwater team riders Luke Ditella and Thomas Petriken are camp counselors for the summer making sure these kids stay afloat and learn to ride. Last year we helped out the camp with some Atwater gear for Bryan to pass out as the kids came and went and well we are back to our old ways once again. So if you are planning on attending camp this summer make sure you hit up Bryan for some gear. Pork Roll.

Check out Luke in the background just walking on water back there
