Darshan Gooch’s Roadtrip Review

Darshan Gooch’s Roadtrip Review

April 28th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

So lately I have been asking our team to get creative and send over pictures with some stories behind them andwe can get them out there for the world to see. Darshan Gooch came by the office not to long ago and I asked him if he wanted to help out and submit some material and low and behold we have this little post you are reading right now. Darshan is an amazing surfer and we are really stoked to have team riders who can participate in little thing like a blog post to help create some great material for all the Atwater fans to view.

All Pictures and words below are from Darshan:
With a brief storm on our our tail, we charged south making a quick stop to check out our friends at Atwater headquarters.

Later that day we set up camp right above cardiff just as the sun slipped into the sea.

To our supprise, the rain came down through the night and flooded our campsite. We needed a running start from inside the tent to clear the water that surrounded us.

I don’t mind a bit of rain here and there, especially when it keeps the crowds down. There were waves all around us when we awoke, everyone must have thought it was stormy because not a soul was out.

I linked up with Chuy Reyna from Firewire surfboards and was super pumped to get a board under my feet. It just so happend he was running a demo at seaside the next day so we rolled down to check him out. Since i’ve been home the surfs been great and i’m frothing on how well these boards work.

So many great things to say about Sean Tully. I see him as one of those people that is good at anything he’s passionate about and I appreciate the fact that he can ride the tube switchfoot better than most can standing naturally. He’s one of my best mates so i always enjoying having a hang when i come through Ventura.

We rounded the troops for a night on the town, Kelly, Sean and Seth having a quick pint.

This photo was taken by another good friend we love to stay with when we come down. Seth de Roulet is one of the most driven guys i have ever worked with, he likes to crack the whip on me rain or shine so more often than not we get some work done eventually.

I can always appreciate people with a big hearts, staying with Seth and his fiance’ Kelly in Santa Barbara is one of our favorite destinations. The generosity and hospitality they have shared with us is second to none. Grace and i enjoying another Summerland sunset.

At a moments notice someone through and open gallery art show for a few local artists in Santa Barbara. Seth grabbed a few pieces from Sean’s house and through them up the next day.

Trying to get Seth to stand in front of the lens is much harder than i could have imagined, him and Dennis Rizzo say “cheese.”

A small testament of Seth’s work ethic, El Nino madness!

Atwater’s Spring Craze at the Tiki Bar

Atwater’s Spring Craze at the Tiki Bar

April 27th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

So last Friday we through a little bash at the Tiki Bar with a few friends and some music. People started rolling in around 8pm because it was poised to be a packed house. We had 3 bands lined up for the evening with See Four starting out, the Pricks following up them and Shinehead finishing off the night. I think there were quite a few people that didn’t know who Shinehead was before tonight but I think that has definatley changed after Firday. Thanks to The Tiki Bar, Cameron, See Four, The Pricks and Shinehead for a great night. Oh and thank you to The Little Blacque Blog for letting me hijack some of your photos, Yoches said it was alright!! And for more photos you can click right here.

I was a little disapointed when I saw a flash of purple outside the tiki bar and came to find out that it was Fixxy Hassan on a………..Mountain Bike. What the Hell right. His name is Fixxy Hassan not Mountain Man Hassan.

Yoches and Dean. The other day when we went to Quiksilver Kevin had another Members Only Jacket on so I asked him where the heck he keeps getting all these sweet finds and his reply was his Grandfathers closet.

Atwater in the new magazine Locale

Atwater in the new magazine Locale

April 27th, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

About 2 weeks ago I was contacted by Ashley over at Locale Magazine which is a new mag that is coming out in July and is going to be covering Orange County and the people that reside here. So Ashley mentioned that they were going to be doing a photo shoot in a few weeks with Erica Hosseini and she gave me the story board which sounded really cool so we were in. We’re stoked to be a part of the first issue and will hopefully be a part of many more features in Locale as it grows over the years. Thanks to Eric and Ashley and everybody else at Locale for making this happen.

Atwater taking advantage of Quiksilvers hospitality at door 33

Atwater taking advantage of Quiksilvers hospitality at door 33

April 23rd, 2010 by Mike Quilliam

Yesterday Quiksilver had a little party at their headquarters in HB to show off their new Skate Park at Door 33. The place is pretty cool and as soon as DC moves down there they are going to be putting the DC mega ramp along side this dope little street section so everybody has something to goof around on. Last night had many highlights including TK Burger’s mobile burger truck parked right outside the park feeding all the hungry folks that came out to the event. Primo beer was flowing inside and at around 8pm the Pricks played for the crowd.

As for the skating goes Atwater had some presence last night in the form of James Reed, Chris Mumma and Tyler Gunter. We posted up at a couple sweet spots around the park and had the boys come through and show us a thing or two. We are going back for another session soon.
